Change Agent

It was about 9pm, it was dark and raining, I however had to drive my younger sister down to a health care center close to our house to continue with the dosage of an injection she was on.

Now, because of the continuous down pour of rain, the road leading to my street was somewhat eroded and took me great pains to maneuver the car through the path. Thankfully, I was able to drive out and return back home.

So, I decided to do something about the situation.  Even if not for anything, for my Dad who will continue using that route and as well other persons in my neighborhood, as I will be returning to School.

Early the next day, just immediately after the family devotion, I braced myself up, mobilised my younger brother, and a cousin to go fix the "pin in the buttocks". Accordingly, we took some buckets, two hoes since we had no digger, and a shovel and headed straight to site.

After much deliberation and consideration, we prayed and began work. We got stones from around the neighborhood and set them in place to make driving in and out of the area a better experience.

Now, you may be wondering why am I telling you this story. I just want to let you know that you can be the solution to the many problems that confront you in life.

Ideally, the community or the head of my neighborhood is expected to lay a complain and then perhaps, the authorities would call for the repairs. But here we are, I fixed our problems myself!

We can fix alot of things in our homes, communities, schools, officies, etc without necessarily waiting on another to fix our problems.

If only we can see the bigger picture, that if everyone will, as I did work towards fixing his/her problem not waiting for another, a lot will be done in just a little while.

One thing that will make community service workable and effective, is that you see that you have a role to play in its growth and development. The sustainability of our community will only be successful, when you seek out ways to engage and contribute to that community.

So I invite you all today, to a life of selfless service because your actions will bring satisfaction to someone out there.
