Bitterness

*BITTERNESS*

So,  I woke up this morning and this question came to my mind. How do you treat people? Do you treat people well because they treat you well or do you treat them based on how they treat you?

Let me share a story. Some time in August this year, I was returning from a study session  together with some of my friends. As we walked, I saw a fellow I knew and as was my custom, I quickly tried to reach out to the person, but I was neglected (in public!!).

I felt very bad and insulted. I kept trying to figure what wrong I had done to get such ill treatment. After much thought, I decided to also go the same way; neglect the person subsequently.

Well, to fast forward the story, yesterday I saw the person and  I noticed that I was not just ignoring the person but I had developed BITTERNESS towards this fellow.

At first, it was just "ignore the fellow" and never liked to hear the person's name, talk more of seeing the person, little did I know that 'ignoring' the person was degenerating into harbouring bitterness towards the person.

Upon my observation of  how the situation had gone bad, I quickly went into action to correct that anomaly. I spoke to a close friend about it and I began walking towards cleaning my mind of that bitterness.  First thing this morning, I reached out to the person.

I was treated in a bad manner and instead of approaching the person to talk things out , I just went on with the issue at heart and it grew into bitterness.

Here is the thing, you should not treat people the same way they treat you, rather, treat people the way humans should be treated. People go through so much that we do not see and that may affect our interactions with them.

You see, you can not enjoy life if you are bitter towards someone. As I will always say, life is too short to be full of hatred and anger.

Bitterness strips you of the joy and happiness you should have , it makes you not to see the good in people and it affects your general outlook on life.

I was able to work off the bitterness I had towards a fellow by understanding the harm it does to me and by reaching out to the fellow.

You can be free from bitterness and have a happy life.
